Grant programs and engagement channels by city

Toronto — Shape Your City

Toronto's civic engagement portal lists over 50 boards and committees. As of 2026, more than 400 public member positions are open or cycling through application periods. Contact: appoint@toronto.ca or 416-397-0088.

Brampton — Nurtured Neighbourhood Grant

Brampton's 52 affiliated neighbourhood associations can apply for grants of up to $2,000 for returning applicants. In 2025, 85 neighbourhood projects were completed with participation from over 7,000 residents.

Victoria — My Great Neighbourhood Grant

The City of Victoria matches up to $8,000 for placemaking projects, $5,000 for community resiliency work, and $1,500 for local events. Rolling monthly application reviews are in place for 2026.

Waterloo — Neighbourhood Fund

Waterloo offers up to $7,500 for neighbourhood-based projects led by two or more residents. The 2026 application windows are February 25, May 6, and October 14.

Volunteer Toronto's Civic Spark Microgrants

Civic Spark provides $1,000 microgrants to 100% volunteer-run, resident-led groups in Toronto. Funded initiatives must build social connections, increase civic participation, activate neighbourhoods, or address social isolation. The 2026 intake cycle closed January 18, 2026, with funded projects running through December 31, 2026.
